As a younger personal trainer I used to scoff at any of these stretcher-type items, figuring that there are all kinds of ways to stretch problem areas of the body without a gadget like this. But now I m older and deal with older clients, including myself. Many times people just need a little help getting to the point where they can get past the initial stiffness and adhesions so they can stretch without an aid like this device. This is a powerful tool to help anyone get a good stretch from the glutes, down through the hamstrings and calf muscle group, achilles tendon and the plantar fascia -- all at once. Pointing the leg outward hits the adductors and pointing the leg across the body hits the glute medius and periformis muscles. What an amazing device. I never should have scoffed at this helper. I m using it a couple times a week to stay stretched.
