I was leaning toward the Schwinn 230 over the 270 since it is the same basic bike with a few more bells and whistles on the 270. Amazon had 100 off the 230 for a short time so I jumped at it. I love the bike The seat is plastic and is not padded but it s the same as every gym recumbent I ve ever used. If you have a tender bum, put a chair pad on the seat. The only feature I would add from the 270 is the back lighting for the console display. For the price differential between the two bikes however it s a moot point.
